The Currie family, residing in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, is home to five cats, each with its own distinct character and story. Among these felines is Gizmo, a Siamese mix, Birkley, a blue tip Siamese, Jack, a hairless Sphynx, DeVito, another hairless Sphynx, and Cricket, the rare Lykoi or werewolf kitten.

Despite the diverse range of breeds, all five cats have one thing in common - they're extremely assertive when it comes to seeking attention from their humans. The family's 13-week-old werewolf kitten, Cricket, is no exception. Believed to be the first of his breed on Cape Breton Island, Cricket has already stolen hearts with his playful antics.

'We got our first cat after getting our own house, and we had no idea we'd end up with five very unique cats, let alone a werewolf kitten,' said Kristalee Currie, a healthcare worker and mother to two daughters and a stepson. 'We're still learning his little tricks.'

While Cricket may be the newest addition to the family, he's already brought a new level of excitement to the household. His playful nature is unmatched, with Gizmo being the only other cat that can rival him in terms of energy.

The Currie family's journey began when they stumbled upon Birkley, a blue point Siamese, before finding a wonderful breeder in Peggy's Cove and adopting their two hairless boys, Jack. Cricket was brought home just last week, and it's clear he's already made himself at home.

As the first Lykoi breed on Cape Breton Island, Cricket has taken some getting used to. However, his unique characteristics are undeniable, making him a true standout in the family of five.
